How to use Veeam Backup with Exoscale Object Storage

Veeam is predominantly used in the enterprise segment as a backup software. Amazon S3-compatible object storages are often used for long term storage for backups. Exoscale offers an S3-compatible object storage that works with Veeam. This guide shows how to set up Veeam for backups.

Prerequisites

Before you start this guide, you will need to:

• Create a SOS Bucket, either via the Portal or the CLI. See the Simple Object Storage documentation for more information.

• Create an IAM key, also via the Portal or the CLI. See the IAM documentation for more information.

Create a Scale-Out Repository

If you have already set up your Veeam backups, click Scale Out Repositories on the right side of the top menu, then Add Scale-out Backup Repository.

For a service endpoint, enter https://sos-ZONE.exo.io. Make sure to substitute ZONE with the relevant zone.
