# Limits and Quotas - VPC

## Limits

| Usage | Limit |
| --------------------------------- | -------------------------- |
| Subnets per VPC | 50 |
| Subnet attachments per instance | 7 |
| Routes per subnet | 500 |
| Minimum subnet size (IPv4) | 8 addresses (*ie* a /29) |

In a VPC subnet, 6 addresses are reserved and can't be used as an instance IP. For example in the subnet `192.168.42.0/24` we reserve:
- The 1st / network address `192.168.42.0`
- The 2nd address `192.168.42.1`: The IP of the subnet gateway
- The 3rd address `192.168.42.2`: Reserved for future use
- The 4th address `192.168.42.3`: Reserved for future use
- The 5th address `192.168.42.4`: Reserved for future use
- The last / broadcast address `192.168.42.255`

> [!WARNING]
> An instance can only be part of one VPC
